Quality

Quality

Wine is a fragile product that needs to be kept in a clean, well-controlled environment in order to preserve its intrinsic qualities. Filips Wine is very careful when it comes to this, using only refrigerated trucks when transporting orders during the warm summer months. When orders arrive at the warehouse, the wines are stored in an entirely temperature-controlled facility where temperature variations are kept to a strict minimum.

The star regions of french wines

Prestigious estates, châteaux and négociant houses

01.

Bordeaux

It is impossible to talk about French wines without mentioning Bordeaux. From wine connoisseurs to the general public, the names of Saint-Emilion, Pauillac and Margaux ring loud throughout the world. Having inherited over a long period spanning many centuries a classic savoir-faire, exceptional terroirs and a vibrant history, Bordeaux is the Mecca of the fine wine market. Petrus, Le Pin, Lafite, Latour, are some of the many châteaux that regularly vie for the spotlight at auctions.

01.

Burgundy

Situated in the heart of France, Burgundy has taken full advantage of its rich myriad of terroirs divided up by a classification system into more than 45 village wines, more than 500 premiers crus as well as 33 grands Crus wines. The wines are renowned for their complexity and finesse and today regularly command some of the highest prices on the auction scene. It is a region we know well having worked with estates there for close to 20 years. Names such as Romanée Conti, Rousseau, Leflaive, Coche-Dury, Raveneau and many more are a must today for collectors around the world!

01.

Champagne

There are regions which exude class and glamour and need very little introduction. Champagne is certainly one of these. Endowed with specific vineyard and cellar practices passed down from generation to generation, Champagne owes its fame to the historical Champagne houses as well as the small independent wineries which are today very much in vogue . Filips Wine boasts a large selection of some of the best and the most prestigious wines. Well-known names such as Krug and Bollinger have now been joined by a plethora of smaller independent wineries like Selosse, Cédric Bouchard and many more…

01.

The Rhône

The fine wines of the Rhône, starting with the vineyards carved out from the breath-taking slopes of Côte Rôtie, the prestigious estates on the hills of Hermitage, and moving down all the way south to the historical estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, have always been greatly valued on the French and international markets. Historical producers like Guigal, Chapoutier and Jaboulet, are now joined and challenged by smaller and more exclusive estates like Chave, Jamet, Rayas, and Clape, to name just a few.

01.

The Loire

Lulled by the river that bears the same name, Loire wines are some of the best kept secrets when it comes to “great value” wines. However, things have been evolving quickly over the last few years as wine drinkers are looking increasingly for lighter wines with higher levels of acidity, the hallmark of many Loire wines. However, their popularity and freshness in no way diminishes their market value. Today, the Saumur Champigny wines from Clos Rougeard, the Bourgueil cuvées from Domaines Bel Air and the byodinamic wines made by Nicolas Joly are at last being recognised for their true value, and are currently some of the most coveted wines on the market.

01.

Southern France

The vineyards of Provence and the Languedoc-Roussillon are bathed throughout the year by the hot sunny climate of the south of France. Exciting wines have emerged from these regions in the last twenty to thirty years which have developed a loyal following amongst wine lovers and collectors. Grange des Pères, Trevallon and Clos de Fées are just a few examples of these estates making a name for themselves.
