The year 2020 is beginning its growth cycle, and all the experts, including us at Filips Wine, are already keeping a watchful eye on the early impressions from recent vintages. Among them, the 2018 vintage seems particularly promising.
In the Rhône Valley, despite a certain amount of worry over weather conditions, the harvest produced reds of magnificent quality with excellent tannins throughout the region.
The quality of the 2018 vintage is the same in Burgundy, particularly for the white wines which have benefited from climate change and show a nice freshness and minerality.
Finally, in Champagne, the harvest is more significant than in 2017. Sweet and perfect, according to many labourers who worked in the vineyards all year long. Here again, the heat wave was beneficial to the grapes.
